Hope and dream light sculpture – Makoto Tojiki

Artist makoto tojiki has developed ‘hope and dream’, an illuminated, kinetic sculptural installation for luxury beauty brand clé de peau beauté

The japanese based sculptor created his work which comprises of nine units spanning 7 x 20 meters of the darkened gallery space. The piece begins with a young girl releasing a bird from her outstretched hands. As the expanse of moving light continues, each of the additional components picture the animal in a distinct moment of flight.

Sometimes an object appears differently from how we remember it to be. yet, this is often not because the object itself has changed, but it is caused by a change
in the observer’s perspective. this change may also be related to, and expressive of, the object’s essence. my interest is in exploring, ‘when, and for what reason,
does a person’s perception of an object change?’ through my work, I seek to stimulate how people see objects. by extracting its essence, I seek to express
that which lies at an object’s core.

The Book Club

This new establishment, The Book Club, in Shoreditch. Has created a comfortable environment for casual dining and drinking. The venue is also well suited for like minded creatives, using the space to build a series of installations, spread across two floors. For example, a ceiling of 23 thousand household light bulbs that hangs in the basement. This ideally used for exhibitions and music nights. Somewhere that are full of interesting activities, conversations and people.

Stuart Williams: Luminous earth grid

‘Luminous earth grid’, the massive-scale personal project of american designer stuart williams, prefigured both technically and conceptually the extent to which modern technology would blend into our daily life.

Created in 1993, ‘luminous earth grid’ was conceived as a conversation between technology and nature at a time when most people had never yet accessed the internet.

A temporary extension cable, strung down the mountainside and connected to nearby power lines, provided the electricity for 1680 fluorescent lamps, connected with 12 miles of electrical wiring.

Kenetic Sculpture, BMW Museum

The Kinetic Sculpture is a metaphorical translation of the process of form-finding in art and design. 714 metal spheres, hanging from thin steel wires attached to individually-controlled stepper motors and covering the area of six square meters, animate a seven minute long mechatronic narrative. In the beginning, moving chaotically, then evolving to several competing forms that eventually resolve to the finished object, the Kinetic Sculpture creates an artistic visualisation of the process of form-finding in different variations.
